Identify Verification
Before you can communicate with inmates at this facility, you must first verify your identity.
You will need to confirm your identity through the Telmate Verified program before you can accept inmate phone calls. Telmate verification helps ensure the safety of you and your inmate contact by aiding in the elimination of fraud and extortion.
Choose one of these 2 methods to verify your account:
Make a deposit: You will be verified when you make your first deposit to an inmate or telephone number. Learn more. Create an account: When you create a GettingOut account, you’ll be asked some questions to verify your identity. Learn more.

Inmate Mail (from the detention center’s website):

It is the policy of the Jessamine County Detention Center to ensure the ability of an inmate to communicate with persons outside the facility, except where such restrictions are clearly necessary to the maintenance of the order and security of the facility.

Personal Mail
Effective 11/1/2022 all personal mail from friends and family will be digitally delivered to the inmate via the tablets. The address for inmate mail is P.O. Box 247 Phoenix, MD 21131 and the address must be in following format:

Please note that the mail will be screened at a GTL facility and the actual physical mail will not be received at the Jessamine County Detention Center. You can also send a digital message to your friend or family member through the getting out mobile app.

Prohibited Items

  • No item shall be glued, taped or affixed to the envelope or its contents
  • Written correspondence may be in pencil, standard ink, typewritten or computer generated. No felt tip pens, markers, crayons or colored pencils.
  • No internet copies of jokes or e-mails. No newspaper clippings or photo copies.
  • Sexually explicit material is prohibited.
  • Material that threatens or is detrimental to the security, good order, or discipline of the facility. Material that facilitates criminal activity is prohibited.
  • Personal checks, payroll checks, blank paper, blank cards, envelopes and Postage stamps are prohibited.
  • No foreign substances are allowed in or on any mail items, this includes perfumes, colognes and lipstick.
  • Polaroid pictures are prohibited. Standard photos no larger than 4×6 shall be allowed with a maximum of 5 photos per inmate.
  • Items that violate this mail policy shall be placed in inmate’s property and returned to them upon their release from this facility.

Legal Correspondence and Commissary Funds Mail with attorney client privileges should still be mailed directly to the facility. If you are sending a check or money order to place funds on commissary it should still be mailed directly to the facility, the envelope should only have the check or money order made payable to the inmate. No letter or other correspondence should be in the envelope with the check or money order.

You do not have to figure this out by yourself. Learning what to expect can make a difficult season a little less confusing.
